The end should be to provide a service or product that people need.” No matter what your passion is in life, should you decide to follow it and turn that passion into reality that passion must provide a service or product that people need. It’s not as hard as you might imagine.For example, say that your passion is painting art. The product that you will create will satisfy the need of those who enjoy the beauty of art. You will touch their emotions, you will awaken senses and feelings that have been dormant and bring to your customer – as anyone who appreciates art knows - hours, if not days and years of peace and enjoyment.You may ask, “Can my artwork do that?” The answer is yes and maybe even more.However, say that your passion is making money. I would ask you, “Is it really? Or is your passion really the art of making deals?” For example, do you watch Donald Trump on television or read his books? Who knows, that first Publishing deal may not be that far off, after all. The recently launched Macmillan New Writer Scheme may be your best opportunity yet to make it big in the publishing world.Since the project was launched in February, Macmillan has been receiving 200 manuscripts a month. And in April next year, six novels will be published and one or two will be released each month.The Macmillan New Writing scheme, though, is not without its critics. A number of online content providers have blasted the scheme as a "scam". The Guardian newspaper's Arts Correspondent, Charlotte Higgans (www.guardian.co.uk) branded the scheme "the Ryanair of publishing; it's like having to pay for your own uniforms". Natasha Fairweather, an agent, calls it "an exercise in futility".In contrast, Michael Bernard, Macmillan executive director, describes the scheme as "a way of giving a voice to talented new authors". There's no doubt, though, Macmillan's New Writer Scheme is a departure from mainstream publishing. For example, if Macmillan decides to accept a novel for its list, the terms are nonnegotiable; no advance will be paid, however, writers will receive 20% royalties from sales.Here's the deal: if accepted, MacMillan will copy edit books, but if manuscripts need more detailed work, they will suggest that writers employ freelance editors. Even then, this does not guarantee publication.Barnard says, "This is about Macmillan finding new authors. Like a lot of mainstream publishers we haven't in recent years been accepting unsolicited manuscripts, but only ones sent through agents. And we are not discovering as many authors as we need.""There are literally tens of thousands of writers out there - and we have a responsibility to help them. We can't do that by paying a half million advance to every author." According to Barnard, the books will appear in the main Pan Macmillan catalogue and would be "very posh books" with ribbon markers, sold at £15. He expected them to become "collectors' items". Scott Pack, of Waterstones, welcomes the initiative. "I think it's a fantastic idea," he said. "When books are presented to me by publishers they prioritise the ones to which they have given large advances. But the bestsellers are not necessarily the ones that have had big advances. This creates a level playing field." There has been a lot of publicity lately centered on the issue of child molestation. Child molestation is a horrific form of child abuse that leaves its victims with a deep loss of self and the inability to cope with life's challenges.Another form of child abuse, that leaves its victims powerless and confused, is incest. Incest is a topic that most families refuse to discuss and sometimes deny that it ever existed. The Laid Daughter, by Helen Bonner is such an example.In this riveting novel, the author discusses her own issues with incest. What is so unique about the novel itself is that the author has been journaling her strange feelings for over 20 years before she realizes that her journal entries depict her true life experiences.The author takes us on her journey through self discovery and healing by allowing us to see her daily struggles in life. She is plagued with failed marriages and her inability to have honest and open relationships with others. She cuts herself off from her family and friends. There is, however, something very striking about Ms. Bonner's character. She is able to hold down a job and build herself a lucrative career while dealing with the incest issue.Going through the healing process was not an easy road for Ms. Bonner. Early on, she was given erroneous advice from some early therapist. She found herself dropping out of therapy with the belief that somehow she could conquer her demons on her own. She then seeks therapy through a wonderful therapist by the name of Glenda Parkinson who discovers that Helen was not just a survivor of incest, but she also suffered from a Multiple Personality Disorder.The therapist also expresses how quickly Helen was able to work through her demons as shown by the following excerpt:"Helen spent only a year in intense psychotherapy with me. The average length of treatment time is somewhere between five and ten years. She was highly motivated and followed her gut instincts in making therapeutic decisions for herself. She read. She wrote. She practiced suggestive directives. She attended a national conference for adult survivors. Her art work was another vehicle for self-understanding. She used relaxation techniques when feeling panicky. She begin to fill her new "house" by acknowledging and fulfilling the needs of her integrating selves. Decisions Helen made for herself rather than against herself were the catalyst toward wholeness."As you can see, by the above excerpt, healing from incest or any other form of childhood abuse can be done with hard work and determination. I would recommend this find piece of work to anyone who has suffered the pain and anguish of child abuse or to anyone who wants to discover how they can make changes in their own life that can help them move forward to living life to its fullest.

"Fern’s Dragon is a wonderfully fun read that stimulates the imagination of both young people and the young-at-heart alike. It is a good mystery-fantasy story that is artfully composed.
Fern is a bright, artistic young girl who is utterly fascinated with dragons. One day she created a masterpiece with beach sand and loved it so much that she was reluctant to leave her dragon, Nogard. When her mother brought Fern to visit Norgard, they were shocked to discover he was missing. Later that night, Fern is visited by Norgard, who begs for her help in saving dragon-kind.
Little Fern finds herself leading the last of the race of dragons, following clues and trying to piece together a way to save the dragon king – the only dragon with the power to stop the catastrophe about to fall.
David Wills has done a superb job on this children’s book. His use of colors and visually stimulating words is sure to spark the imagination. The light ending will leave a smile on the readers’ face.
I highly recommend this book to parents, as they are unlikely to become bored with their children begging to have the story repeatedly read to them. I know I certainly enjoyed it."

Reality Checked – Life through Death, is a moving saga about finding meaning in a world of suffering and pointless hate based on the color of skin. Former school teacher and Theologist, Victor Waller has incorporated many of life’s issues through the lives of his characters who were forced to make decisions in hopeless situations. Racism, revenge and hate are rampant in this book. Domestic abuse and the dangers hidden within our society’s foster care system are also addressed.
There is only one main character – Catherine Brown – along with a host of supporting characters. Catherine grows up under the terrible threat of racism - which many use simply as an excuse to harm another human. In fact, her father and uncle were orphaned at a very young age through a racist attack. The fairy-tale romance of her parents slid away as fears of her father’s suspected infidelity enforces her mother’s accusations that she is being poisoned. Never really knowing the truth, Catherine stumbles through her youth and into adulthood.
Unfortunately, a disturbed individual brutally murders her family and Catherine is dragged away by the police and incarcerated for many years. She survived the harsh environment through the friendship of her cellmate – and their hunger for revenge.
As an old woman, Catherine is only free from the bars of her prison. Her body is now her jailer – it is discovered that she inherited her mother’s mysterious illness. Thinking she had no family remaining alive, Catherine is surprised when she is invited to a family reunion. This reunion proves to be one of Catherine’s greatest challenges. As she seeks to repair the family discord, she is contacted by a person from the past and her chance for revenge is handed to her on a silver platter.
Victor Waller has created an important and meaningful story in Reality Checked. In fact, the work is well titled. The novel provokes the reader to question their own choices in life - and possibly, to release some of the pessimistic inner voices which influence their decisions.
I give this 377 page novel the highest of ratings with no hesitation, what-so-ever.

Jean Kerr was closer to the truth than she might have realized. Every outside organ of the human body is eligible to be called beautiful, but because internal organs are ordinarily seen only by surgeons, they get excluded from the beauty contest. If our internal organs were observed, we would describe them in terms of attractiveness, and normal color and shape would be considered beautiful. You need only compare pictures of normal healthy internal organs with pictures of their infected and diseased counterparts in the medical books to convince yourself that health and beauty are synonymous.
A healthy colon looks like evenly braided muscles. On the other hand, unhealthy colons are deformed: twisted and looped in some parts, ballooned and engorged in others, as revealed by barium X-rays. Visit a colon therapist, if only to observe the pictures of unhealthy colons and see for yourself how ugly one can be on the inside.
The blood of a healthy person is also beautiful. The red blood cells are uniformly round. The blood of a body full of toxins is contaminated with pathological bacteria, abnormal proteins, and parasites. When red blood corpuscles clump together, the condition is called Rouleau or “sticky” blood. Rouleau, this clumpy, unattractive blood, appears 5 to 20 years before symptoms of illness present themselves. It is an early messenger of hundreds of degenerative diseases. Conglomerates of red blood cells cannot access the fine capillaries of the body. Rouleau is particularly damaging to the organs of the head, in particular the eyes, ears, and scalp. A diet high in meat and dairy products increases the stickiness of your platelets. Blood that becomes sticky is a sure precursor of blood clots, strokes, and heart attacks.
The arterial pipelines in a healthy circulatory system are clean and clear from obstructions. In healthy arteries, the inner lining, called the intima, is smooth, supple, and without cracks. A cross-section of a normal coronary artery shows no arterial thickening or blood-blocking plaque deposits.
An unhealthy circulatory system paints an entirely different picture. The middle muscular layer of the artery can no longer fully recoil after a pulse wave has expanded the vessel. Elasticity of the artery walls is reduced, and cracks and hollows appear. They catch calcium, cholesterol deposits, fat accumulations, and clusters of platelets. Cholesterol deposits roughen the inner surfaces and damage the walls of the arteries. At first, plaque build-up does not cause discomfort--it is just ugly. But later, thick, clogged bloodstream results in coronary arteries becoming occluded with fatty buildup, which effects circulation and causes deterioration of the connective tissues. Deterioration and abnormal hardening of the arteries result in a process called arteriosclerosis and may cause heart disease, stroke, and hypertension.
The body often displays real ingenuity faced with substances it cannot metabolize or eliminate. It breaks them down and distributes them to remote areas of the body away from vital organs to minimize harm. The body takes the poisons out-of-the-way but not necessarily out of sight. The toxic wastes are pushed towards the peripheral organs, which happen to be the skin and every other organ that we can see on the outside.
External deformities are direct manifestations of internal pathologies. Ugly ropes of varicose veins, puffy faces, and cellulite are telling tales about your inside condition. Every pimple, psoriasis, or pigment change on your skin is in fact a reflection of some organ struggling to do its job. Every bulge, boil, or swelling is a sign that the body is pushing out some toxins in its effort to protect itself.
The term “natural beauty” has been misused and abused beyond restoration. Because there is no natural beauty without 100% natural food, the beauty that will emerge on the raw food diet I call Rawsome Beauty. Our external beauty is at its best when our internal organs are in the best possible shape, form, and color. Beautiful is not something extra the body needs: to be beautiful both inside and out is the natural state of one’s body.

Though majority of the people found in this dimension are weak in accountability, this does not mean that very accountable individuals are exempt from falling Below The Line. They, too, slip every now and then. The only difference is that they know how to get out of the rut.
A Simple Solution to Victimization
Individuals and organizations Below The Line languish in self-pity until they get trapped in the “I Am a Victim” mind-set and find it hard to break free from the vicious cycle. Accountability offers a very simple choice to make, albeit a difficult one to act upon: “You can either get stuck or get results.” So stark in its simplicity that most people fail to realize that the ball has always been in their court.
The Power of Individual Accountability: Moving Yourself Above The Line
The first step to accountability is recognizing the problem. It takes great courage to admit that you are stuck in a difficult situation. Most people, however, fail to view reality the way it is because they choose to ignore it or they accept the situation as the status quo and go along with it.
To commence the march up the Steps to Accountability, you must first muster the courage to: a) recognize when you fall Below The Line; b) realize that remaining Below The Line not only ignores the real problem but leads to increasingly poor results; and c) acknowledge and accept reality as the first step toward taking accountability.
Mustering the courage to See It will lead to the next step, Owning It. Here, you must have the heart to own the circumstances you’ve recognized in the See It step as well as the results that will come from the course of action you plan to take.
“What else can I do to rise above my circumstances and achieve the results I want?” That is the question to continually ask yourself when you find yourself stuck in a stubborn situation. Apart from creating solutions, Solving It also involves foresight in determining the worst possible scenario that can happen, and being prepared to battle it head on.
Having solutions is not enough if you neglect practical application. You can’t Do It unless you make yourself accountable not only for immediate circumstances but also for future accomplishment. With this, you are empowering not only yourself but also your organization.
It’s so easy to be pulled back Below The Line, especially if you don’t accept full accountability for the situation and the future. A lot people are afraid to become accountable because they fear the risks associated with it. However, know that without taking the big leap, you will never get anywhere.

Don't Eat This Book by Morgan Spurlock: Lightweight But Convincing Expose of the Fast Food Industry

For those of you who've been on another planet for the past year or so, Morgan Spurlock is a filmaker who spent an entire month eating nothing but McDonald's food and filming the decline in his health, expanding waistline and other alarming consequences of this damaging diet.
The result was the gripping documentary, Super Size Me, which earned a well-deserved Oscar nomination.
Don't Eat This Book, although an obvious offshoot of the film, is a worthy project in its own right, with plenty to offer Spurlock fans and newbies alike.
If you've seen the movie, you'll appreciate the behind the scenes perspectives revealed in Don't Eat This Book. But the main thrust of the book should appeal to anyone with an interest in the fast food industry and its role in modern society. Certainly, if you're a parent or teacher who cares what children eat, you should own this book.
The title - Don't Eat This Book - is a spoof on the warning labels emblazoned on virtually every US product.
The warnings are aimed at warding off court cases from the kinds of people people not only stupid enough to put their hands into a whirring grass cutter or to mistake silcone gel sneaker inserts for mints, but also shameless enough to blame the manufacturer for their ensuing, and well-deserved, misfortune.
Spurlock has no time for such frivilous litigation. But he convincingly argues that such cases are very different from the kinds of class actions being pursued against giant tobacco and food companies.
It should be obvious to anyone but the most brain dead that putting your hand into a power mower's blades is bad for you. But until recently it was not so obvious that cigarettes and fast food were bad for you.
For decades tobacco companies hid evidence that their product was a health hazard, cunningly designed to be addictive. At the same time they spent staggering amounts of money on marketing to create the image that cigarettes were "cool".
With the success of the initial tobacco class actions, attitudes began to change.
As Spurlock points out, "Suddenly it was apparent that sticking a cigarette in your mouth was not quite the same thing as sticking those sneaker mints in your mouth. No one spent billlions and billions of dollars in marketing, advertising and promotions telling that guy those sneaker mints would make him cool, hip and sexy. Big Tobacco did exactly that to smokers."
He spends much of the rest of Don't Eat This Book building a similarly damning case against the fast food industry.
The parallels are inescapable. Fast food chains like McDonalds spend billions on convincing kids that eating their unhealthy, fattening products will make you popular and cool.
Their "Super Size" policy, cynically designed to prey on the natural human instinct to get value for money, is roundly criticised, with the author's own experience in filming Super Size Me serving as chief witness for the prosecution.
And if it wasn't hard enough to keep your kids from eating junk food outside of school, there's the growing trend of fast food chains to offer funds to cash-strapped schools in exchange for branding and advertising opportunities. In several cases, fast food chains have even set up shop inside school cafeterias.
Thankfully, all is not doom and gloom. Spurlock heaps praise on schools that provide healthy, local food in their cafeterias. He also provides advice and a list of resources for parents and teachers seeking to turn the tide in their own communities.
This, combined with Spurlock's casual, humorous writing style make for a quick, breezy and ultimately optimistic read. Its accessibility makes Don't Eat This Book an ideal educational tool, especially when combined with Spurlock's Super Size Me documentary.
If you prefer a more measured, investigative style of journalism, Don't Eat This Book may be a little lightweight for your liking - Eric Schlosser's brilliant Fast Food Nation will probably be more to your taste.
I'll end with one word of caution. If you do print out this review, please don't eat it. It may give you indigestion and I can't afford the lawsuit!

Publicity Through Philanthropy For Writers

I am twenty three years old, have sold over four thousand copies of my first book in a matter of a month after it's release and recently been contacted for contracts with Random House and Harper Collins for two new titles. I think a good deal of my recent success is highly correlated with my Reading for Charity Contest and the attention it has drawn. I'll explain the entire background, but as pre-thought I think it first manifested itself through a combination of my looking for a good way to market my first book, while balancing out my karma a bit. A way to interweave my love of novel writing, increase my book's visibility and provide a benefit to society in some way shape or form. All of these tasks have seemed to be accomplished- although my karma could still probably use some more balancing.
What is the Reading for Charity Contest?: Over sixty organizations, a group of corporate sponsors, and a handful of volunteers are the result of the charity contest. I took my very recently published book and decided to give away a certain percentage of it's profits to charity. There was a catch though, the charity I will give my book profits to is being voted on, by the readers. So once you read my book, you can go to my webpage or find me at one of my book tours and vote for your favorite cause and the highest voted cause receives the profits (Which should be quite a bit). That was the reading for charity contests basic beginning. It's the focal point of everything else that now surrounds the contest and of course my book. The contest was than expanded on by a few different means which, furthered the accomplishment of my goals.
1) Rather than your basic book tours I turned my book tours into a way to highlight the organizations participating in the contest. I have a large stand representing all of the participating organizations with their information and donation cards. Next came along a couple of benefit events- a silent auction, a couple of benefit dinners etc... Things that were really quite easy to put together, but could have a great benefit for the charity groups I was working with. Now this may seem like a good deal of work, which it was, but the benefits for the organizations had been huge, and the benefits for me personally has been equally spectacular.
The benefits all of this had for me: I was able to get involved with over sixty non-profit organizations and use my book and contest as a way to highlight their efforts and eventually provide them with a financial benefit as well. There is no truer statement that giving is a two way street. In return for my help with the organizations the organizations did their best to help out me. I am featured with my book in over fifty non-profit newsletters, on a large number of webpages, as well as postings and fliers from the organizations. Some organizations have newsletters with readers in the ten of thousands. It is equivalent to being featured in fifty newspapers across the country that are targeted directly to the reader.
2) The book tours are not only philanthropic, but also bring in a good deal of people and create a lot of buzz. After some attention a number of companies offered to sponsor the events. I was able to receive all of my marketing material for my book and contest for free from corporate sponsors. T-shirts, fliers, book marks, posters, business cards, mail outs, coffee cups, even mousepads with my book cover on them. My entire marketing plan which is now pretty extensive costs only about five dollars a month to cover the price of my website, that is it and nothing more.
3) When you have a purpose and are providing aid you directly relate with the community you are assisting. Since the organizations I have involved are spread out throughout the entire United States it has proved to be an excellent source of publicity, from radio, to newspapers, to magazines, even a couple of upcoming television shows. It has given my book an unbelievable pr hook in a market where it is difficult to get a story in a paper just because you recently published a book..
4) In basic when people read my book they are doing more than just being entertained, each copy bought goes directly to a great cause. The readers of the book are allowed to interweave their love of reading with a greater purpose in an interactive fashion. Once again a win-win situation.
I would like to expand a bit on the reading for charity contest idea. I think there are a world of ways to further the efforts and provide the joint benefit for some organizations out there, and assist me in my publication and book marketing endeavors. As a model however it has been incredibly successful, I think there are a lot of incredibly creative ways to market a book on a low budget like I originally had and turn it into a success. Once again I will state that giving something always brings in something, and in my case, it brought in an incredible book career.

What can I say about As I Lay Dying, by William Faulkner. I have just completed the first 64 pages. I have read As I Lay Dying in high school. I will not tell you how long ago that was. I guess since I am older, I view Faulkner's work from a totally new perspective. In high school, I saw Faulkner's work as another set of boring fiction the teachers assigned us to read. Now, as an adult, I can sit back and analyze the direction Faulkner seems to be going with his characters.

This morning I was watching The Today's Show with Matt and Katie. I have been watching The Today's Show for the last couple of weeks. Today they were discussing Deep Throat. It appears that Deep Throat might be on his way to publishing a novel.

After all of these years, Deep Throat decided to reveal his identity. There is no doubt that if Deep Throat writes a novel, his novel will definitely be listed on The New York Times Best Sellers List. Do you really think Deep Throat has more to tell us? There has been some speculation that Deep Throat's family encouraged him to reveal his identity in order to make money off of a future book.

If this was the motive, what is wrong with that? Other writers and authors have profited from their life experiences or someone else's life experiences. Life experiences are the backbone and blood of a lot of new novels and books.

Other consumers purchase novels based on television promotions. Some consumers based their novel purchases based on recommendations. Others base their purchase based on other media outlets profiles.
While still other consumers base their novel purchases through personal recommendations.

It really does not matter what motivates you to buy a new novel this weekend. What is important is that you buy.

I started reading this novel. I only read the first chapter. I have been so busy. I want to get back to reading. I hope I will be able to catch up on some reading during this memorial day weekend. Lately, I have been spending the majority of my time on my computer.

If you are looking for books, you can find them everywhere. There is no best place to look. There are online and offline bookstores. There are offline bookstores in every state and country. The internet, however, is open to everyone. Anyone with a computer has access to books.

What most people have problems with is choice. Which books do they choose to read? Do they choose the books that have gained media attention or do they choose books from unknown authors?

The reader would probably choose books, from unknown authors, if they new how to find them. There must be a way to get these bright talented authors books before the public. What a waste to have such talent hidden.

I took the time to observe today the different ways prospective new authors were promoting their novels. I discovered that some choose to write short stories on blogs. I think this is a good idea because it strengthens their writing ability.

I also notice how some of these prospective new authors were announcing on their blogs that it was their dream to become a published author. Some choose to list their real names while others are writing under a pseudonym. Which avenue works best is hard to tell at this point. It is up to the individual to pursue their dreams in the manner they feel comfortable with.

What more can I say about new authors and writers? I have already spoken on the subject. I know I will constantly be harboring on the subject because these new writers and authors do not have a voice in mainstream media.

If I can be that voice I will. So for the next year or so, I will be their voice. Who knows, I just may be their voice until I die. I am not the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, or the new York times. Whatever I can do, however, to get these new writers and authors voices heard I will do. This will be my indefinite forum to pursue this goal.

If you are planning to buy any novels in the near future, why don't you try some new novels by new authors. Some of these new authors have not gained the kind of exposure, for their novels, the way most well known authors have. There are a lot of new novels with good storylines. When you are browsing for a new novel to read, try browsing for novels that have not made it to The New York Times Best Sellers' List.

These new novels are not there, yet they hold a lot of potential. Additionally, when you are browsing for new novels, try browsing in areas that are not in the best sellers' categories. You will also find that some of these extraordinary novels are not listed.

Do not stifle your reading to just those listed in those categories. Branch out further in order to experience a more well rounded reading experience.

Weary Novelist

I attended a writer's conference yesterday and I was a little dismayed by the number of writers who are very disappointed that they cannot get published. Some of those writers fear self-publishing because they feel their novel will not sell. There have been some writers, however, who chose self-publishing and their novels did well.

Sometimes self-publishing may be the route to take. One never can determine how well a novel will do. Just do your best. That is all that is expected of you and let the chips fall where they may.

The former contestant, of the american idol television show, has written a novel about his alleged relationship with Paula Abdul. He has received a lot of publicity as a result of his allegations. It is no doubt that the publicity will increase the sales volume of his novel.

Most readers love a tell all novel. If his allegations are false, some potential buyers will not care. If his allegations are true, some potential buyers will not care. Most potential buyers just want the story no matter if it is true or not.

If is was not for his appearance on the show, nobody would care if he wrote a novel. Perhaps a good novel is not the novel itself, but who the novel is based on.

The desperate housewife is all of the rave today. One would expect that the local station that it is aired on would be grateful for all of the attention the show has been receiving. The desperate housewife would probably make a good title for a novel or some aspect of the novel could concentrate on the concept.

The average reader seems to jump on the newest rave. The desperate housewife is the newest rave. Even Laura Bush got a lot of laughs and publicity just by calling herself a desperate housewife. The crowd loved the fact that she told them President George Bush went to be at 9:00 p.m. As a result, she became a desperate housewife.

A lot of publicity also centered on the fact that Laura Bush stated how she goes to Chippendale after President George Bush is asleep. The media loved it. Every media outlet could not wait to buzz Laura Bush's comments regarding being a desperate housewife.

Just think if new authors received that much free publicity for their new novel. Perhaps Laura Bush could replace Oprah when it comes to bringing attention to new novel releases.

When an author has completed a novel, it is that author's responsibility to take control of the promotional campaign. After spending so much time and effort in creating your masterpiece, do not leave its success totally in someone else's hands. While it is true that you will need the assistance of others when embarking upon a promotional campaign, you stand to lose more than anyone else if you do not get your novel into your audience's hands.

When I wrote Strange Fruit In A Small Town, I spent a great deal of time on promotion. I spent more time on promotion than I actually spent writing the novel. It is up to you to put your best foot forward in order for you to see your desired results.

The Oprah Factor

There has been a lot of talk about Oprah bringing back her book club. Some authors are disappointed that she stopped recommending books to read. They somehow feel that their books will get profiled on their show.

For example, suppose an author suffered from child abuse and was able to recover from it. This would be useful to any reader who has experienced the same type of trauma. Sharing your story, with others, is an unselfish act. Anyone who has such a story to tell would indeed be helping their fellow man.

A novel can be anything you want it to be. What is is depends on the individual who is reading it, writing it, or reviewing it.

From the writer's perspective, the novel can be interesting. While at the same time it can be boring to the reader. The reader can find the novel interesting while the writer can feel he/she did not put forth his/her best effort.

A reviewer may find the novel uninteresting while the reader can find the novel interesting. Whose perspective one should choose. Since a novel can be interesting,boring or anything else you want it to be, just read what you enjoy, write what you enjoy and review what you enjoy. There are plenty of novels out there where we all can just voice our own opinions.

New York Times Best Seller Lists

What exactly does it mean when you hear someone say the New York Times Best Seller List? Different people have different opinions as to what the term New York Times Best Seller List mean. It just means what is popular among mainstream society. In other words, what novel has gotten the most publicity and from what source that publicity was generated.

Take for example, Oprah's Book Club. A novel profiled in this club will probably be placed on New York Times Best Seller List. This has stirred up a lot of emotions among writers. Some of them have tried very hard to be profiled in Oprah's Book Club.

A novel profiled in a local media outlet usually does not make it to the New York Times Best Seller List. It seems that the popularity of the promotional outlet serving the writer gets profiled on the New York Times Best Seller List.

This should not discouraged writers from pursuing their life's work because there is always an audience for a particular genre and a particular story. Not to get off the track but take for example some of todays talk shows.

The Oprah Winfrey Show as well as the Ellen Show are popular talk shows on daytime TV. They probably serve different audiences but that does not mean one is better than the other. It just takes finding your niche, your audience and pursue those individuals. You have to write for you and let the chips fall where they may. You will be a lot happier with yourself if you choose this option.

THE LACK OF READERSHIP

Writers should be wary of a vanity press because there is strong evidence that these novels show a lack of readership. The main goal of publishing a novel is to have someone read it.

Everyone has a story to tell. I find that some prospective novelist are more concerned with whether or not their novel will sell. It is best to concentrate on what is in your heart--that deep burning desire that is within you. If you are passionate about your topic and storyline then that is all that matters. PUTTING YOUR WORDS ON PAPER

Putting your words on paper is sometimes the hardest thing for a writer to do. Sometimes we feel as if we are just rambling on. I find just rambling on a good thing because sooner or later I will be able to get back to clearer thoughts. If I find myself stuck on some ideas, I just take a walk. I do not proscribe to that old adage that some writers do. For example, trying to make sure that a certain amount of words are written every day. I find that a certain number of pages daily will suffice. However, it is important to understand that if you do not meet your daily goal, it is okay to start all over again the next day. Frustration can lead to disappointment and disappointment can lead to just giving up. Sit back, take a good look at the direction you are proceeding in and keep on plugging at it.

HOW TO WRITE A BEST SELLING NOVEL

Every writer dreams of writing a best selling novel. Who does not want to see their writings hit the best seller's list? There are so many writers who spend a lot of time concentrating on what they think would be a best seller. The key to writing, however, is to concentrate on your passion. That is what is important to you. Spending so much time thinking about what would sell and what would not defeats your purpose. The best novel is what you feel is best. Stay focus and write from the heart. If you do this, you will feel very good about your novel. No one can predict what novel will be a best seller. Just keep on writing and don't give up.
